After traveling through Fort Dodge this past weekend I noticed the number of very large/tall buildings for a town the size of Fort Dodge (25,000). What is the history that there are so many large buildings? Going down the main street made it almost seem as if we were in a much, much larger city. I also noticed the county courthouse was not surrounded by the typical square but rather shoved right into downtown - very unique for Iowa. My current city is the same size and has one comparable building over 6 stories and that has trouble being filled so how does the city deal with 10 or 12 large buildings?
