I am an Ann Taylor person but on weekends I'm mostly Columbia products

my teenager is all about North Face and I make her pay for it herself...

the younger ones don't care and neither does my husband - he'd be happy with a gift certificate from Cabela's or LL Bean

Just left one of the most worthless meetings ever. The presenter called 10 minutes beforehand to cancel due to a "project crisis." So we just sat a round and discussed on-going projects (without much substance).

It was nice to get out of the office...

Well I have two months to complete all of my credits to retain my AICP. I managed to do it in the first two year reporting period. This two year period no such luck. My employer stopped paying for training and conferences, and in this economy there is no way I could afford it myself. Good riddance AICP cert. You never really were useful in any sense.

Anytime the temperature dipped below 60º folks had to put on a scarf.

No North Face jackets in the WSU household but I do have a couple pair of their cargo pants that I got on the cheap at REI a couple of years ago and have to say that they have held up better than any other cargo pants I've bought in a long time and I put them through a lot of abuse.
I guess we're lucky. A couple cheap turtlenecks and a couple pairs of thick socks and we're ready for "winter".

Is anyone else still seeing new "Ron Paul | President 2008" signs go up in their area?

The only surviving businesses on this list are A&P (no longer in Buffalo), Firestone Tires, Household Finance, Lerner Shops (now New York & Company), JC Penny, Manufacturer's and Trader's Trust (M&T Bank), and Sears.

Thruway Plaza was enclosed in 1976, becoming Thruway Mall. The mall was torn down about 15 years ago, several years after a new superregional mall opened nearby.

I just saw a lady walk by wearing a baby blue sweatshirt with white Michigan State letters I guess I don't understand why someone would shell out for college attire and not even get the school's colors? Well, I'm off to go look for a bright orange Harvard shirt.

I agree. Words in the English language can still have multiple meanings, and I believe Merriam-Webster lists the following the definitions of the word "gay":

    1
    a : happily excited : merry <in a gay mood>
b : keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits <a bird's gay spring song>
    2
    a : bright, lively <gay sunny meadows>
    b : brilliant in color
    3
: given to social pleasures; also : licentious
    4
    a : homosexual <gay men>
b : of, relating to, or used by homosexuals <the gay rights movement> <a gay bar
    >
    — gay adverb
    — gay·ness noun
    Examples of GAY
    • The band was playing a gay tune.
    • the gayest of the spring flowers
    Origin of GAY
    • Middle English, from Anglo-French gai, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German gāhi quick, sudden
    • First Known Use: 14th century

Well, I tried to start a discussion about adjectives that aren't used much anymore, but nobody took the bait!

Is it bad that I am considering a large plug of chewing tobacco as an alternative to quell my sugar craving?

    Blech, yes.....

Not that it matters what *I* think I guess, but I think it is so disgusting. Plus I know two people who have oral cancer, one can no longer talk and the other was recently diagnosed and had to have half his tongue removed and is going through chemo. It's really sad Sorry, you probably didn't want a lecture

Related to that, I don't know that we ever had a poll about smoking/chewing. And I tried to start one, but couldn't figure it out. Duh. Anyway, how many of you currently smoke, chew, or both? Or used to?

The fact that Tom Bosley died makes me sad.....

TIGER II grants announced. A grand total of 3.3% of applicants funded. Waste of time and money just applying, if you ask me.
