    Jay Reatard dead at 29

    Memphis garage-rocker Jimmy Lee Lindsey, Jr - better known by his stage name Jay Reatard - died in his sleep Tuesday night. While his music isn't for everyone, he was an incredibly prolific and talented songwriter and tireless performer. Here's the NPR blurb on his passing.

    Howard Zinn dies at 87

    "Alternative historian" and influential professor Howard Zinn died today. His book A People's History of the United States was a formative read for me early in high school. Despite the fact that he was on my death pool, this one actually kinda hurts. RIP.

    Aaron Ruben, who was a producer, writer and director for some of the most popular television comedies of the 1960s and '70s, notably "The Andy Griffith Show," "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." and "Sanford and Son," died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 95.

    John Murtha

    USHouse Representative John Murtha (D - PA) died this morning due to complications from gall bladder surgery. He was 77. No word on who will replace him in Congress or if/when a special election will be held.

    It was a book written by George Crile before it was a movie and it was much more fascinating.
