National Pie Day - Wait for the poll

National Pie Day has nearly gone by without Cyburbian recognition. Lemon Meringue is my favorite. What's yours?

You left out blueberry pie! Blueberry pie made with Maine blueberries would have to be my favorite. If that isn't available then it would be apple. I'm not a huge pie person, cake & chocolate is more my style.

It was a tough decision, but I have to go with "other": the apple-peach crumb pie I had at Christmas was to die for!

And how did I celebrate National Pie Day? By finishing up the rest of the chocolate cake we had in the fridge.

    My favorite.

While growing up, mom and dad would take us out to pick wild blackberries along the Noyo River. We picked enough over the weeks to freeze enough berries to have berrypies throughout the year until next picking season. A close second is apple pie made from Gravenstein apples. Mom makes great pies with perfect homemade crusts.

If you are traveling down State Hwy 308, between Red Lodge, MT and Hwy 72, you will see signs for the Hungry Bear Bakery & Cafe, advertising their world-famous banana cream pie. It would be a mistake not to stop. In fact, it really is about the only reason to stop in Bearcreek, unless you want to see the memorial of the mine disaster that happened in the 1940s.

When I did stop there for lunch and pie, I regretted that the first time I passed by that I did not stop. It is excellent pie. The lunch was pretty good too. It is even worth the drive from either Red Lodge or Cody, WY.

I voted for "other" since my top two favorites (cherry, and key lime) were left off.

What kind of pie poll doesn't include cherry pie? I mean it's a cultural icon. "Can she bake a cherry pie, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?" Cherry pie on Februray 22. Sheesh. Get with it.

And "She's my cherry pie... tastes so good make a grown man cry..."

I'm like apple and berry pies but my favorite is chocolate pecan at Thanksgiving/Christmas time. It's like a pie, a brownie, and fudge all in one.

Should have been multiple selection because I am not the only one that likes several of these -

Apple - either regular pie shell top cover or crumb topping.
Pumpkin - not just for dessert anymore for breakfast too.

    Agree should have listed
Blueberry - either regular pie shell top cover or crumb topping

    And
    I like cake too.

any of the above with Coffee, ot course.

In high school a friend's mom made a brown sugar pie (but called it something else). I think we ate the whole thing in one sitting. I haven't had it again but boy it was goooood.

I'm sorry, but I thought March 14th was 'Pi day'

I voted for peach since it was the only one of my faves listed, and I haven't had a good peach pie since a relative from PA died in the '80's. No blueberry, cherry. or key lime listed?

Cherry probably followed by blueberry. Not many kinds of pie I don't like.

Red raspberry pie is my favorite. There's a bakery/farm market/deli in a town where I inspect. If I call before I leave the office, I can pick up a warm, freshly baked pie before I have to go back to the office.

I can't believe you would leave key lime and french silk off of the list.

I didn't vote because cherry pie was not an option, and cherry pie does not deserve to be listed as "other".

Such abuse for a few omissions. I left this one off too but I'm pretty sure it's really everybody's favorite pie.

Ah yes. Our Thanksgiving feast would not be complete without a shoofly pie. Among my favorites are: lemon meringue pie, Boston cream pie (okay that really is more of a cake), huckleberry pie, and pecan pie (my Mom's is so good).

I went to a party not long ago where the host made a turducken. In response, many other people brought dishes that combined two or more food types. Someone brought a Piecaken. It was awesome. Helps that she is a pastry chef!

But i love pie and, given the choice, prefer it over cake. I'm not too picky - I appreciate the virtue of many pie varieties. Still, I voted for rhubarb.

Makes me sad to see that I'm the lone voter for pumpkin pie.
