There a couple of pedestrian oriented directional signs in this thread. I'm going to be out there again in about a week. I'll take and post some more.

A nuisance may be merely a right thing in the wrong place — like a pig in the parlor instead of the barnyard.
DC and baltimore both have great directional signs, they look almost exactly the same.
This picture shows such sign in Baltimore. I think putting the distance in blocks is the best touch
