Fellow planners: The Iowa legislature passed an amendment this past
session requesting that the Leopold Center at ISU develop and submit a
Food and Farm Plan complete with recommendations to create a more robust
local and regional food and farm economy in the state. A key
component of this plan is the further development of local and/or
regional food systems in Iowa. As you have seen in Planning magazine and
observed in developments around the country over the past several years,
local food systems have become a hot topic, and planners can make an
important contribution to this development. The Leopold Center would
like the input of planners, by August 27, as they develop this plan for
the legislature. Go to their web page:

only a few minutes to complete the survey. Thank you. Alan Vandehaar,
