Beloit Mindset List for Class of 2014

    http://www.beloit.edu/mindset/2014.php

Do any of these make you feel or know that you are really old ?

    1. Few in the class know how to write in cursive.

    9. Had it remained operational, the villainous computer HAL could be their college classmate this fall, (And you know which movie that is from ?)

    15. Colorful lapel ribbons have always been worn to indicate support for a cause. (Your AICP pin does not count.)

    26. ...... they have never seen a carousel of Kodachrome slides. (Required for Landscape Architecture class.)

    29. Name of manager he feuded with ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.
    From Electric Horseman (1979)

Do kids not write in cursive anymore? Why not?

These hurt me and I'm not old:

    7. “Caramel macchiato” and “venti half-caf vanilla latte” have always been street corner lingo.
    28. They’ve never recognized that pointing to their wrists was a request for the time of day.
    46. Nirvana is on the classic oldies station.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. -Douglas Adams

Gosh, I'm not that much older than the class of 2014 and some of those make me feel old!

I don't know how to write the entire alphabet in cursive anymore.

They teach italics instead of cursive because it's more legible. My daughter rarely writes in cursive, only her signature.
