Bands/Performers To Listen To But Not To Watch

Who do you like to hear but watching them just ruins the songs? I suspect Aerosmith (sorry IP) is in this category for a lot of people. Badly aging rockers are turn-offs for me. Others?

Anything by Bob Dylan. I like some of the modern rockers, but the tight pants need to go.

Anything that is fairly decent from the 80's. The music might be okay, but the style that is worn for the age of rockers is getting ridiculous.

Responding to this thread will force me to admit that I enjoy folk music. Hate watching it performed. Cheesy. You know those PBS specials? Fantastic, if I close the TV cabinet and just listen.

I went to an Aerosmith concert once...

...it rained at the beginning and then it stopped...

... I almost remembered something else, but it's gone now...

I think Aerosmith have aged relatively well. Watch a YouTube video of them live in the 70s...they looked and sounded much worse then, all high on heroin and coke, then they do now.

Some bands haven't aged well though or they've changed too much. I recently saw the hair band Firehouse and realized that the hair really made the band. The music still sounded great, but it almost looked like I was watching a cover band, what with their short hair-cuts and crappy stage. Not like in the epic rock videos they made in 1991.

Other 70s artists like Styx and Foreigner and Journey don't look too good live, but sound great on record. I also remember seeing Journey's cheesy video for "Separate Ways" on YouTube one time, and thought the video was absolutely horrid and didn't do such a killer rock song justice.

Oasis disappoints live for how big they are/were.
Dave Matthews Band - venues are too big for their style
Black Crowes - good music but boring performers
    Celine Dion - don't ask

I like pretty much anything live (even if I don't like them) if they get into the show, involve the crowd, and generally just have a good time. I've noticed the huge bands I've gone to see aren't nearly as fun as the smaller bands.
