    Popular Movies You Never Liked

This thread is to talk about popular movies that you personally never got in to.

Star Wars. I'm not into the whole Sci-Fi thing. People can't believe I don't like this but I honestly don't. I don't know what it is but it's just boring.

Avatar. Sure, the graphics were cool but the whole premise just turned me off.

Lord of the Rings. Boring. I think I was the only one of my peers that couldn't watch this thing over and over again.

    What say you?

    Shrek ... gag.

Also, anything with Julia Roberts, her laugh really gets under my skin for some reason.

    How about Ishtar ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Watched Gone With The Wind for the first time this weekend. That was four hours of my life I'm never getting back.

Oddly I liked Avatar. Don't know why really... but this is about hate!! so I will move on...

Most girl movies - Dirty Dancing is horrible, When Harry Met Sally is bad.

All Vampire Movies - Twilight has the worst acting I have had to sit through for probably 10 years.

Most scary movies - Horror movies past 1999 have all had one thing in common, they are bad. I liked the concepts of signs, paranormal activity, etc, but they all weren't good. The Saw movies just tried to make gore scary. Cloverfield? Really? The Ring was okay. I liked Blair Witch for its originality.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is not into Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Add the Harry Potter series as well.

As for the Pirates of the Caribbean series and the Shrek series...eh. They're nothing life-changing for me, but they are OK movies to pass the time.

Dirty Dancing is horribly good! They showed it on the big screen for a movie in the park deal around here and I went with some girlfriends, a good time!

I fell asleep during LOTR, too long, didn't watch...

Forest Gump! Man, that movie got so much hype and maybe its because I waited too long to see it in the theaters, but I was so sorely disappointed. I thought it was so predictable and Disney-packaged (even though it wasn't Disney) and generally lame. I felt like a sucker for watching it.

I walked out on War of the Roses - and I've never walked out on a movie before or since. What a piece of crapola!

I'm sure there is more, but nothing's coming to mind yet.

To IP, I enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books with my son (though they can't hold a candle to Tolkien, IMO) but the movies are remarkably forgetful. I have watched most of them and I can't tell you a thing about them - they were mediocre at best. My son hates to watch movies of books he has read because he is always disappointed. I'm so proud of my little budding curmudgeon...

I've never read a single Harry Potter book, nor have I seen (or have any interest in seeing) any of the movies.

The first Star Wars movie was ok, but I wasn't really interested in any of the subsequent films in the series. I took a Sociology & the Mass Media course in college. As a final paper, we were supposed to view and analyze The Empire Strikes Back (new at the time), but I managed to get a waiver and see something else instead: An Officer and A Gentleman - not because I like Richard Gere (I can't stand him, actually!) but because it made a good subject for sociological analysis.

Speaking of Richard Gere, I'm not sure that I've ever sat through Pretty Woman. That's another popular movie that I didn't care for.

I forgot I was going to put that one on the list! What a piece of vomitous dog crap. There are so many things wrong with that movie, its hard to know where to begin. Just the premise - that some handsome, wealthy gentlemen will save prostitute Julia Roberts from a life of degeneracy like some sort of knight in shining armor - was so offensive to my sensibilities, I just couldn't take it. Fortunately this one was a rental. So, while my girlfriend sat and watched until the end, I stepped out for a beer...

Star Wars (saw first and third one, never saw the prequels, nor understood the whole Star Wars phenomenon)
LOTR (saw the first one and dozed off)
Slumdog Millionaire (yes it was uber hyped but I thought it sucked especially after personally spending time in Dharavi)
    Avatar (haven't seen it yet)
    Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Wall (great album, the film not so much)

HOW ABOUT YENTL??? or Bird on a Wire But just how popular were these movies? I remember critics calling Ishtar one of the worst within a week of it hitting the big screen.

I really couldn't stand Titanic either.....I held off for years not seeing that crap.....then when I finally viewed the movie......I loved the very end where the ship sank, that was cool....

All James Cameron movies except for Aliens, and maybe The Abyss. I'll never understand how his past two movies have made billions of dollars each at the box office.

We actually watched it over two days. After the first, Mrs. ofos asked if we were going to watch the second act. My response? Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!

Are you talking about popular movies that we've seen that we didn't like, or popular movies that we refuse to see because we know they are crap.

Too many too mention if its the latter.

Anything over the past 20 years or so that purports to be a comedy. It's all bad, bad, bad.
