    The Inquisition: JNA

[theme song and audience applause] Hello and welcome to The Inquisition, the show where people from the studio audience get grilled. Our guest this week is NOT a volunteer (but is usually a good sport); everybody let's please welcome JNA [audience applause]
So JNA, I'll ask the first few questions and then we'll open up the floor to our studio audience to put their own questions to you.

    - you have the most posts of anyone on Cyburbia and yet seem to draw so little attention to yourself. How do you explain that?
    - so why did you shift career tracks from being an EMT? What was good and bad about that gig?
    - why aren't you still a member of Ski Patrol?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    - just the quiet guy in corner at the party I guess.

    - I was only a Volunteer Firefighter in a ski resort town. I had been working at a hotel for seasonal resort wages with no benefits (living hand to mouth) and because I did not have a hotel/restaurant degree I was not going to get promoted there.
Good - the firefighter brotherhood, got to do some cool stuff.
Bad - wearing glasses always had trouble being comfortable in SCBA.

    - The ski patrol job offer happened at the same time I was accepted to Grad School - other choice in life - pursue the potential of a year round career with benefits or settle out for another seasonal resort job. Once I was in Grad School I let my EMT licence lapse.
and that was 25 yrs ago.

Are you truly afraid of heights?
Ever been on a roller coaster?
    Ever been to Cedar Point?
What's your favorite restaurant in NJ?

    My usual questions:
    Star Wars or Star Trek
    Kirk or Picard
Do you shave, trim, or should I not be asking an RJ question?
I don't pretend to understand Brannigan's Law. I merely enforce it.

    - Around here in Southern Indiana closer to Kentucky it is NASCAR but I prefer to watch Indy car road (not track) and F-1.

    - Not much.

    - Political & Dating - learned my lesson - don't talk about it.
Sorry new people but I don't respond to the introduce yourself threads anymore - the source of my post count.
Last consistent sting of responding was back in 2009.

    - I am very limted - FB or Google News or American Trails

    - Not truly afraid but very uncomfortable - probably bad experiences from being on the fire dept 100ft ladder truck - I was not cut out to be truckie.

    - Not in recent memory

    - No but I can find it on Google Map.

    - There are several

How far/near was your family home to the John List house?
Did you know any of the List kids?
What's the coolest thing you've found along the Jersey shore?
Ever been to Lake Hopatcong? Lee's Island?
Ever hiked the Delaware Water Gap? Jersey, Pennsy, or both?
Did you take a school trip as a kid to see Washington's crossing?
    Ever been to Washington Rock?

    - CLOSE - Next street over, seperated by one property in back yard.

    - One was in my grade but don't remember if I knew him all that well.

    - besides seashells ?

    - Sorry no

    - Yes NJ side - up to Sunfish Pond when I was in the Scouts.

    - Not sure but was there when I was in the Scouts - even still have the crescent shaped patch from it.

    - Probably.

    - Do you think Godzilla is cool, and if so on what level?
    - Do you like a good Reuben sandwich?
    - Would you rather live in a village or a neighborhood? - discuss.

Largest speeding fine, how fast were you going?

Any other traffic violations we should know about?

Where does the name JNA come from? I've always thought it interesting.

Have you been anywhere in Canada? What do you think of us?

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Whats your favourite meal to eat?

What kind of pets did you have as a child?

Do you have any pets now?

When choosing a name for a pet, how do you go about it?

    Why planning?

    - if the papers were going to run a front page above the fold article about a scandal you're involved in, what would you want the headline to read?
    - where's your favorite spot to vacation in Michigan?
    - what is the most damning admission you can make that would prove once and for all that you, JNA, hate America?

Ooooooooooh NOoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! <insert Mr. Bill icon>

I thought this was going to be a Grande Inquisition with JNA and me.

It's my fault... was too optimistic... thought my username would've been changed by now.

    I'm so disappointed. For real.

P.S. Just for the record, I read all of the Inquisition and all of the answers. But by the time I had the time to ask the questions, which were always on the weekends, be it looks like they were always already finished.

Who hasn't run a stop sign ? those with out sin cast first stone.
Just what do you want it to mean ?
Yes - two different places - skiing - the old Grey Rocks Resort Quebec, and canoeing near Verona, Ontario when I was in the Scouts.
    needing to use the bathroom
    Breakfast
    Cat and Dog (Black Lab)
    sorry no
really original - cat vocal - Meow and dog we got on Chritmas - Christy
SAW H&ll if I know, why not, didn't know any better, what I went school for, just ended up here, etc
just a practical / employable spin off from studying Geography with a minor equivelent in Landscape Architecture.

    - Never thought about nor want it.
    - Never vacationed in Michigan.
    - I don't follow NASCAR, have a pick-up truck with a gun rack, and don't drink beer
nor like the MLB Yankees or Norte Dame football and
worst of all - don't take sides in the Michigan - Ohio State football game
    is that enough ?

An Inquisition should be about standing alone in the uncomfortable glare of a spotlight...having no one to help out with any 'correct' answers...Sister, your time is coming soon enough.

    - USU has a Landscape Architecture degree, Actually made a campus visit in HS - it was kind of like on my way home from visiting California family, they were the first and only school I had applied to and was accepted, I saw it as a good adventure to go to school that far away from home.

    - meeting people that I am still friends with today 35 yrs later, getting PE credit for skiing, the nice meeting with an professor 20+ yrs later and how he remembered me and seemed proud that he was part of my career path.

    - interweb search & was a lurker, met Mike Gurnee at the 2003 Denver APA National conference and talked about, and as they say the rest is history.

Yeah, besides sea shells. I once found a message in a bottle And some cool driftwood that my 10-year-old brain conjured as part of the wreckage of a Nazi sub or a pirate ship. Arrrghhh! Seashells, really, as much time as you've logged at the shore?

How did you feel about your hometown being the setting for a popular TV show?

Ever take the CNJRR west? How far did you go? (I made a lot of trips to Nirk, Nirk next stop, but few indeed west.)

Any vestiges of a NJ accent?

Ever been to a Yankees/Mets/Giants/Jets/Knicks/Nets/Devils/Rangers/Islanders game?

What shows have you seen at Madison Square Garden?

We know we share the bond of being both NJ ex pats and fire fighters.

Where did you serve as a firefighter, for how long? What's the craziest thing you ever saw? (They probably had rubber thigh highs and rubber coats back there huh Ax?)
What is your most favorite NJ diner and what's your "usual" order?

Do you still ski and do you have a season pass and if so where?

What was the most favorite car you ever owned and why?

    - I remember finding a piece of a broken glass milk bottle w/ Old Barney on it.
    - The Ed Show - very nice.
    - Sorry No
    - I like quizing people if they can pick up on it.
    - Most memorable Yankee game was viewed from an owners box. No to the others. either lack of interest, time, nor willing to spend money.
    - Never seen a show there.

Breckenridge, Colorado - Red, White & Blue Fire Dept. - there is a history to that.
Served for nearly 4 yrs. - spent one ski season pulling a weekly shift in first step toward the transition to a paid dept.
Got to participate in a Live Fire training when we burned a house built around a trailer down.
No to the thigh boots - started with waist bunker pants and coat and then bib & short coats.
So un jersey of me - was not into the diner crowd scene.

    - No, that was 25 yrs ago, but had one for Ski The Summit - let you ski at Breckenridge, Copper Mtn, Keystone, & A Basin
    - Plymouth Duster - round trips from NJ to Utah for 3 yrs in school.
or Ford Bronco 2 that was 5 speed manual & 4 wheel drive w/ manual locking hubs & manual transmission shift to 4 wheel drive.
or Saturn SL 2 - that was 5 speed manual.

What is your favorite task to do at work? Least favorite?

Favorite book read and favorite movie watched in the past year?

What new hobby would you learn if someone gave you weekly sessions with a personal trainer/expert in that hobby for free for a year?

If your job took Google's approach of letting you work on your own (but somewhat work-related) task for 20% of your workweek, what would you do?

I assure you, even the spotlight of the Great White Way gives me no discomfort. (Nor does the Whale. Nor my being represented as a man with hairy armpits. )

It's that I'll need two weeks to get all the responses done. You know, the ole Carpal-Tunnel Disease. I don't think it's fair--to everyone else--to be a double time hog. That's why I'd suggested being ground thru teh wheel with somebody else, see?
