I just hope my fellow cub fans realize it's gonna take at least several years before then even get close to be being good. There are some good parts and there is hope. However, there are still some bad contracts and holes in the pitching staff, and infield.

    Tigers' Season

Last night the powerful Texas Rangers demolished my Detroit Tigers, sending the ole' English "D" boys home. Back to their families, golf, vacations, fishing, staying in shape, yadda.

The Tigers had a really good season. They were expected to be in a 3-team race in the Central Division (with Minnesota and Chicago). The Twins were eliminated from contention due to multiple injuries to key players. The Cleveland Indians provided a nice substitute for Minnesota, holding on the first place in the division into August.

Then the Tigers caught fire and swept to a division title by mid-September. The Tigers surprised the Yankees in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. But the Rangers were too good. On to next season.
    _____

    General Manager Bear:

Replace Austin Jackson with an outfielder who doesn't finish in the top 3 in strike outs. Move Alex Avila to 3rd base. Buy a catcher and a 2nd baseman that hits well. Release Guillen, Ordonez, Penny. Shop Porcello and minor-league prospects for a starting pitcher and a middle-reliever.

Despite now being out of the chase, the Tigers still have one of the best line-ups in baseball. Go Tigers!

And "thank you" for a joyful season.

I'm so disgusted with the whole Red Sox organization right now. It wasn't enough that they ran the best manager they ever had out of town, they had to drag his name through the mud with allegations of prescription drug abuse. No wonder why Epstein wants out.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a Cards fan and I'm glad they won. I always cheer for the National League team in the World Series (unless it's the Dodgers). But the hit by Lance Berkman that drove is two runs in the fourth inning was a foul ball. I called it on the live feed. Replays on the Cardinals web site confirm my observation.
    Annoyingly insensitive

Just wondering how T-Plush (a/k/a Nyjer Morgan) liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals win it all .... heh, heh, heh!

Seriously, how improbable was all that? Now, all we have left to do is sign Mr. Pujols
