That home is a bit too small for me, but I'd be happy with something much smaller than the "average" American home as long as it had architectural features that I liked. I'd rather not be house-poor in my old age.

I couldn't live with my mother in a 4000 sf. home. The house isn't exactly small in the sf. sense, but in the lot coverage sense. It goes up instead of out.
It looks like it is a corner lot on busy roads. I would pass. I would guess that if he was willing to spend $500k on the house, the lot is probably pretty pricey...

Aren't there some really pricey older mobile homes built in some places along the California coast? I think I saw/read about them somewhere. What you're really paying for is the lot, but for some reason, the trailers have to stay (possibly lot size or % of lot size or earthquake requirements). They're fixed up really nice, but still, they're like some fantastic amount for a 30 year old trailer!
Yuck! Just watching all those cars go by was giving me a headache. I live on a corner that looks a lot like where this home is. Everything is tiny, on top of each other, and the roads are sources of never-ending noise and air pollution. The price is about half of Tokyo though.

I could do it, it looks a bit larger than a parking space and it is three levels. I'm guessing its not that too different than my cabin (at 640 sq. ft.).

The size of the house would be ok, but more importantly, how big's the GARAGE?
The steps looked to be really short for the "unit rise", which shortness tends to lengthen the whole flight, taking up more space.
