If you're like me, you're probably aghast at the thought of hearing Christmas music immediately after Halloween. About a week ago, two radio stations switched to their all-Christmas music format, and more are going to follow in the coming days.
There's one Christmas song that seems to get radio airplay even during the summer. Coldplay's Viva La Vida. Okay, it's not technically a holiday song, but every time I hear it, the fist thing I think is "Why are they playing Christmas music in July? Oh, that damn Viva La Vida again. Never mind." Viva La Vida has a very Christmassy sound to it; it's difficult to place exactly. Even some the lyrics register as Christmassy to me - "Roman Catholic choirs are singing" (misheard, I know),"I hear Jerusalem bells a'ringing", and many other religious references.
What songs sound Christmassy to your ears, even though they aren't really Christmas songs?
