    Hello from Illinois

    Hello out there fellow planners.

I'll preface by saying that no I'm not evil... for the most part.

Graduated with a B.A. in planning in May, and currently doing my 2nd internship. Economy for planners isn't looking great but I love the work!

If I can I'm gonna try sticking it out rather than follow the majority of my friends into graduate school for business or law, I have enough debt...

    Greetings from the Hoosier state!

Good luck searching for fulltime work. I don't expect the public sector to recover for a while yet. Good luck, though, and perhaps I'll be proved wrong.

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

Welcome from a fellow Illinoisan. I'm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where are you at? I also graduated in May with my bachelor's and am looking for a planning job, so I know exactly what you're going through. I also share your sentiment about not going to grad school. I gotta enough undergrad student loans to pay off, plus I have so much experience already.

In American, you can never have enough debt.

A great big "Welcome!"... and I think I speak for all of us when I say we're proud of you for sticking it out and believing in Planning. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing you on the boards.

Originally from the south side of Chicago, currently doing a transportation planning internship with an MPO in central Illinois. I've already accepted that this is a pretty awful state to be in as far as development is concerned. I'm pretty open to moving wherever I can find work, no pets or girlfriends holding me back
