    The Chuck Berry Thread

About a month or so ago, Rolling Stone magazine had an interview with Chuck Berry. The interview inspired me to do some additional reading about Chuck Berry and I cruised YouTube checking out his vids. The cat was/is amazing! What a collection of rock and roll. And he influenced others.

Oddly enough his biggest hit was a silly thing called My Ding A Ling. Take a peak at a vid with a young Chuck Berry performing in France. The song title is one of my favorites. And post your thoughts (or a vid) about Chuck Berry.

You mean Marvin Berry, of Marvin Berry and the Starlighters ("Earth Angel")?

    Off-topic:
It was indeed a 'Back to the Future' reference

I would include 'Johnny B Goode' on my top 10 most iconic rock n roll tunes of all time list.

I liked him as the host of The Gong Show.
All these years the people said he’s actin’ like a kid.
He did not know he could not fly, so he did.

Chuck Berry was one of the original inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; a pretty compact group including the likes of Elvis, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly.

The other day Chuck Berry had to cancel/cut short a performance because he was quite ill.

I read that, too. I love seeing old clips of him performing. He's gone through some rough times, some of his own doing.

Chuck Berry was a big influence for Lennon/McCartney in thier early years. Early albums cover his music.

Ha, my dad just mentioned this the other day. My aunt was a huge Beatles fan back in the day and my dad was saying how he always used to give her a hard time saying, "hey, wait a minute, these songs weren't written by Lennon/McCartney, they were written by Chuck Berry! They can't even write their own songs." This was of course referring to the earlier days.
