I infiltrated and bore witness to a truly sordid side of Cyburbia that I wish to never again see. Even posted a wise-ass comment for good measure. So as dandy would say- "take that, man!".

I'm sure the altar for worshiping all things RJ was quite a shock to you.

    What's this??

Damn it!! And me showing self-discipline and not logging on during work hours.

One question: is the worshiping alter made of a nice solid mahogany?

You know what they say about seeing how the sausage is made ...

    A summary:

    * Reported threads and moderator followup.
    * Notices of vaguely named threads.
    * "Hey, keep an eye on this thread/topic. It could turn ugly."
    * Discussion of suspicious new users.
    * "ARGH!"
    * An embarrassing experiment with GIS; a map of sanitary sewer lines.

A while ago we started a policy where inactive moderators can't maintain their moderator status. The mod forum isn't a super-exclusive clube.

It's clear lucite, filled with swirling chlorinated water heated to a perfect 105º F.

I saw it. I love the name of the forum too.

At first, I was like, what's this? Do they want me to be a mod or something?

Definitely some interesting stuff. Today being a day off for me, I took full advantage of browsing through the posts on there. I felt like a kid looking in the closet to see what his parents got him for Christmas.

I may be moving some of old posts documenting the history of the site -- subforums that were added and deleted, thoughts about new features, and the like -- from the mod forum to Forum Issues and Help.

Obscure Cyburbia Trivia: we once had a Florida subforum. Completely forgot about it.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

    We're not that good.

Al least not in any way we want y'all to be a party to. Sheesh.

I think I remember that...if I recall correctly, there were other state subforums, too. They got no traction.

You have to survive our super secret initiation ceremony in order to become a mod. The ritual is a little like this:

Just what we need is national attention for hazing not for our professional postings content.
