The healthcare issue right now is nothing but political foder. The Rs used it to avoid saying anything that might have been positive in the speech.

Think of it this way. Rs says we tried to kill 'obamacare' (a term which should be used but I digress) but the Ds over there won't let us since they rule the Senate. We kept our campaign promise! Knowing all along the repeal wasn't going to happen. Wasting time that could be used on real solvable issues to instead campaign for the next election. We've just let them spend more of our taxpayer money and again nothing happens.

I'm surprised by how little conversation there is about the light rail, clean energy, and infrastructure on this board. I would have thought planners would be jumping out of their skin to push these issues.

Before the '08 election, I thought that Light Rail could be Obama's Interstate Highway type project. I hope that comes true. There are entire regions of the country where this work so well.

Sen. Rand Paul [R-KY] has introduced a Senate Bill to eliminate $500bn in wasteful federal spending, including shuttering the departments of Education and HUD. LINK. (Read the 37-page overview at the link. Surprising number of typographical errors.)

That's the Tea Party mantra writ large. Kentucky's going to have an interesting six years with him in the Senate.

He was chosen because of his postion on the finance committee and he represents a democratic state.

I liked the no pork projects inserted in bills part. How many times have we heard that now? I can even recall Reagan asking for these or the ability to line item veto them out! Notice how it iss still around 30 years later?

Obama said he would veto any bill with earmarks. But he said then when running, then he didnt follow through. I think he said it during last years SOTU also. Basically he is a big fat liar.

The GOP is even bigger fatter liars. Why is everyone big fat liars?

I'm afraid that the America I knew and loved is dying. The new America? Yeah I kind of hate it.
