Smaller cities that have attracted lifestyle center retails and others into their downtown....

What downtowns have you noticed that have attracted retailers into their downtown? Where have you seen malls die off because the downtown is a successful happening place?

    Indianapolis - City Centre Mall

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA is a smaller city that has attracted and maintained significant retail in their downtown. Starting with the monstrous Circle Centre Mall that is getting close to celebrating its 20th year in business. For downtown dwellers such as our family, flanking off the mall is Mass. Ave that seems to have quite a few lifestyle retails, although not of them being national retailers. The city has really done a great job building their urban core with retail first, and now it is becoming very active.

The two worst implemetations of urban retail has been the failed malls downtown in both Cleveland (Terminal Tower) and Columbus, OH, both of which have or are in process of failing.
