Wedding expenses: is the RICO Act applicable?

Why are wedding photos so freakin' expensive?

For the same reason the cake, dress, and flowers are.

Isn’t it a pity, how Conway Twitty thought he was witty when he sang a ditty about how pretty his Kitty looked in the city?

If they made groom magazines they'd be filled with articles with titles like 'cubic zirconia: can she really tell the difference?'

I think I'm crossing over to Guys-ville in that regard.

I already paid $$$ for the photographer now I'm expected to pay $$$$ for photos. Um, the photos are nice but I can live with 1 8x10 and 3 5x7s.

Can't you just ask for the digital copies and have him sign a release? Then print them at costco. $0.17 a print!

Make sure you get at least a couple of good photos for yourself - we cheaped out and ended up not ordering any of our professional photos (my MIL did get some done and gave us a couple) and I do kind of regret not having some nicer photos of the event. The "we'll just use the photos our guests took" option didn't end up very well...seems all our guests were lousy photographers.

No one allows this anymore. We couldn't get the digital prints unless we paid $1000. Are you kidding me? We already paid you a $1000 to be there... she did "throw in" a memory book with 20 photos in it.....

When we got married a few years ago, it seemed to be about a 50/50 split whether or not they would give us the digital rights of all of the pictures. Those that had an outright, "No" we ended the meeting with immediately. In the end, we had about 4,000 individual photos from our wedding and the professional photographers (I had no idea that they take so many photos - basically, their finger is on the trigger the entire time).

Our photographer gave us the digitals on CD for $150, then I just printed off the ones I liked using Flutterby... wait no that is a kid's name for a butterfly... Shutterfly. Yes that is it. It is worth a shot to ask for them.

I believe I managed to get in the contract one full set of 4X6 prints plus all images digitally plus a full copyright release.

That will be plenty. However, it would be nice to get a photo book. I suppose I could do those on snapfish or something. They tease you on the "official" photo page with a photo book for only $133. They neglect to mention that is for only 16 photos.

Another good reason not to get married, don't have to spend any $$$.
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

I got married in my living room. The divorce cost more than the "wedding".
