There's a reason that Long Guylanders are and have been despised in every single college town/city in Upstate NY, and this is one of them. Unfortunately, Long Guylanders are frequently mistaken for people who actually live in NYC, and give New Yorkers a bad name.

As a student in the planning department I'm pretty damn embarrassed. Students in that neighborhood are out of control. Planning students have been working on ideas on how to improve the neighborhood known as the "student ghetto".

By the way I grew up on LI and there is a reason that I chose to live in upstate NY and its not just because of the high property taxes.

Update: there are now 40 arrested, thanks to the all the cell phone video footage which was posted on the web.

IMHO it's a pretty deplorable situation there in Albany, and there's a lot to it which I won't go into (maybe in another thread). I'll just say that I'm glad I no longer live there.

Reminds me of Ann Arbor. Not surprisingly one of the largest out state populations come from New York. I can only assume these are not the kids who grew up in Rochester or the Bronx!

It's the Long Island kids, as LindaD noted. They treat Albany like a toilet.
