Hats galore!!! I'm sure you were all about that natski.

You know the lady sitting behind the Queen chose her hat on purpose - she HAD to be seen. We commented most of the morning on that choice.

    Teh Royal Wedding Thread

No doubt all you folks living in the Eastern time zone set your alarm clocks to 3:45 a.m. so you wouldn't miss the royal wedding at 4 a.m.?

So let's talk about the royal wedding....I bet whats-her-face's dress was really impressive. And I bet a lot famous and important people were there too. I'm sure as weddings go it was very, uh, royal. Yep. Definitely a grand wedding.

You know, I didn't get an invitation. It may have gotten lost in the mail. Come to think of it Prince William and I were never really all that close, so it's possible they may not have sent me one. Bummer. Did you get an invitation? No? Well, join the club. I bet more people didn't attend the wedding than did.

Are they going to televise the reception too (you know they probably don't have to host it at the Moose Lodge because they have like spare castles they can use), and if so, do you think Billy's Father-in-law is going to get really trashed and make some embarassing toast that somehow suggests the groom is not good enough for his Little Girl? I hope the camera zooms on the Queen Mother when they get to the Chicken Dance part.

Why isn't she wearing a crown? Wouldn't you wear a crown is you were royalty? Or do you think she gets bored because she has been Queen for 50 years?

Damn you see right through me! I loved the fact everyone had to wear a hat- there were some lovely ones indeed!

Queen doesn't have to wear a crown everywhere! The dress code required ladies to wear a hat so she did!

The Queen lent the Duchess (who apparently can't be called princess because she wasn't born a princess) a tiara for the occasion.

I wish she would've lent me a tiara. I wonder what the protocol is for lending out the royal jewels?

I am not sure how true that is. Diana was a 'princess'- but wasnt born a royal. Neither was Prince Phillip. They can just choose whatever title they want.

I guess the distinction is "formally".

    Got it from the Times:
Earlier on Friday, the queen announced that William would assume three new titles — the Duke of Cambridge, the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. A dukedom is the highest rank in British peerage. Miss Middleton will now be known as the Duchess of Cambridge, but she will also have the titles of the Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus. According to British protocol, she will not be able to formally call herself Princess Catherine because she was not born a princess.

You mean they can pick any title they want? How cool is that! If I were royalty I would go with 'Duke of Earl' (duke duke duke...)

For those in the UK that are sick to death of hearing about the royal wedding be glad you don't live in the States, you'd actually be hearing more about it.

Maybe it's because we don't have titles and aristocracy here that makes it so interesting to us.

She doesn't HAVE to... but you are the Queen, why wouldn't you? I mean if the only thing that makes you important were a pair of pants, wouldn't you wear them all the time? I know I would.

Elton John bestows the title of the Duke of Cambridge, the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus on Prince William.

    Oh wait, wrong Queen.

    News flash: She's dead.

It might be that Kate will become Princess C. when Wills ascends. Worked for Prince Phillip.

For more fun, check out the hats. Someone has opined that Eugenie was protesting her mum's exclusion from the guest list.
