    Hi, I'm new here

    Hi all,

I just joined this site. I'm not actually a planner (I decided to major in aviation instead of planning in college -- big mistake on my part), but I've been interested in the field since I was a little kid, specifically in small town and rural development. I'm from a rural community in Southwest Michigan, but now live in a small town on Minnesota's Great Plains, near Sioux Falls, SD. I'm currently employed as a freelance writer and SEO/SEM specialist, but Im thinking about going back to school for planning in the near future. I'm not sure how much I can contribute here since I'm not a professional planner, but I look forward to conversing with you guys and learning more about the field of planning.

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!

We have many non-practicing planners/professionals on the boards! Feel free to jump in whenever!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011
