Louisana is pretty obvious in terms of built environment (by the way Bourbon street is somewhat unusual in the being iconic department, in that there's little of what one would consider grandeur associated with it).

Edit: My notion of regional identity and what qualifies as being 'iconic' in part goes back to early childhood. Before I could even read, I was fascinated with maps. My parents had a late 1950's vintage State Farm Insurance road atlas we used to plan trips. I spent hours poring over the maps. On the cover was this image that summed up the nation's principle economic and cultural identities into tidy little stereotypes (including a few negative - check out Mississippi, Alabama, or for that matter Tennessee)
Anyone else remember seeing this particular atlas?

Minor quibble: there is no Shenandoah mountain range. There's the Shenandoah Valley of course, and the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains. There is a Shenandoah Mountain, but it's probably more identified with WV, and it's not all that iconic.
If you mean the Blue Ridge Mountains, I'd agree with that I think. The area around Old Rag Mountain is definitely one of the most beautiful parts of the state. The stretch of I-81 from Winchester to Harrisonburg is probably the most scenic stretch of interstate highway I've been on.

While Northern California Claims the Goldengate and Yosemite I would say Southern California Natural would be PornStars ( okay close to natural) man made would be traffic.

C'mon, dudes, the Cuyahoga River fire was 40 years ago. I suspect that younger people who even know what we're talking about probably think it's just a myth anyways.
I've only been through northern Ohio. It looks an awful lot like the Lake Ontario/Lake Erie lake plain in NYS which is not particularly full of iconic geography.
I'd go with the Ohio River as the state's iconic natural feature.
Michigan fan Bear will have to agree that "The Shoe" is probably number one in the built category. It is a cool design. It needs a tattoo, though.

Just thought of another built icon, Perry's Monument (at Put-In-Bay).

BTW, the John A Roebling Suspension Bridge in Cincinatti is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was completed in 1866 by Roebling's son, Washington Roebling, who went on to build the Brooklyn Bridge from his father's design.
