For Southern California, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Santa Monica Mountains for natural landscape.
For Ohio, I definitely would have to say the Ohio River Valley. It was just absolutely stunning to me...and I've only seen the area around Cincinnati. I imagine it continues to get even better once you work your way east as the terrain becomes more rugged.

Man-Made: It's a big tossup: St Augustine, pre-dating Boston, NYC, Virginia Dare. And my fave, Gatorland.
It is interesting to me to see what people outside of your state see as the iconic landmarks. I can't argue with someone's earlier response that VT would be the maple tree and the covered bridge. But 7 years of living here, I've never even seen a covered bridge.
For built- I'd also offer Ben and Jerrys.
For natural- I'd offer the Green Mountains or Lake Champlain.
For both- Stowe ski area on Mount Mansfield.
MA: I see the green monster at Fenway as more recognizable to people, at least in the last few decades, than even Faneuil Hall.
