Bay Area urban issues volunteer opportunities

Shot in the dark, but does anyone know of any volunteer positions in the Bay Area that are at least semi-related to urban planning? Not so much trying to build up a resume but looking to get some experience. Thanks

You should definitely look into SPUR (San Francisco Planning + Urban Research Association) - http://www.spur.org/about/work_or_volunteer

    Also consider:
Bay Area Transportation Land Use Coalition (http://www.transformca.org/)
    Greenbelt Alliance (http://www.greenbelt.org/)
    Rails to Trails Conservancy
    Natural Resources Defense Council

Also try the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. I did an internship there when I was in grad school and it was great. They work with big Silicon Valley firms to tackle local issues. When I was there I researched the use of brownfields for affordable housing options, and lots of other affordable housing related stuff. They have depts focusing on land use, transportation, energy, etc. Highly recommend checking them out. Carl Guardino, the director/CEO, is a great guy.
