I can see where a lot of fingers point at tourists in FL along with relocated Yankees who never drove up north, but I would also point out that FL sucks for public transit. There are probably plenty of people (native or not) who shouldn't be driving or would rather not, but are. And development patterns don't generally provide for essential services, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, etc., to be within walking distance of most neighborhoods.
