    Cyburbia's Most Notorious

    So I was looking back at a thread this morning and found a great thread that got derailed by a Cyburbia Bandit. I then thought, I wonder what the best threads we have had that were derailed by our famous brethren. I could think of a couple off the top of my head... mostly from somewhat recently, but I am sure there are lots more....

    Yeah, the Surfer1280 thread I recall following and was about to post in a few times but somebody always had already said better and more concisely what I would have said so I never bothered.

    I recall the Starring_Emma drama but I think I noticed it after it had all blown over already because I was away from the Cyburbia for a few days.

    Even if I don't recall the other folks/threads, reading them now is still pretty funny. Thanks for putting this together Hink!

    I went back and looked and don't have much of a memory of that.....was it just the fonts? Was this person around prior to 2005 as some threads suggest?

    urban19 has a special place for me on this list simply because of the level of effort and patience expended by the moderators and administrators. Bless his little heart... mama tried.

    Electric_Ashalar was probably the most entertaining of the kooks.

    "Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

    Staring_Emma showed up on two other forums I frequent about the same time as her run here on Cyburbia - she lasted a day-and-a-half on one, and was proactively banned on the other before she ever posted...

    I'm not one for snarking on those that can't defend themselves, but ... one of the most colorful yet forgotten of the banhammer-stricken is Clemson Grad, He didn't work his way up to a banning; he posted pure, distilled damn-commie-planner vitriol from the start. I will admit, though, that unlike many one-trick ponies, he posted on a diverse range of topics:

    * Tax-loving socialist leftist liberals.
    * Defending the honor of the South.

    Here's one example.

We can obviously not be as progressive as you. Your average taxpayer doesn't support high taxes, but that is lost on urban planners who make a living off other people's taxes.

    The late Chet is, of course, a Cyburbia Notoriety Hall of Fame member. Perhaps we should have another thread for the non-banned notorious.

    Didn't Chet have a few stints in the penalty box though? It would be interesting to see what active members (or at least non-banned members) have been issued the most yellow cards or temporary bans.

    My all time favorite notorious Cyburbian is phear_me. He spent most of his time in the The Graduate real estate development programs thread. He would unequivocally boost MIT’s MSRED program (-- or was it Columbia's --) while bashing and degrading all others. It was a winner takes all approach. I honestly did not believe he was trolling. It was his genuine personality. The thread was also picked up on Google inviting many new users to join the forum to find out more information about the MSRED degree or defend their school from phear_me's relentless attacks. Although the thread was highly informative, it eventually descended into chaos was shut down after repeated warnings.

    I also suspect that phear_me pissed off many veteran cyburbians, and the graduate real estate development thread was mostly shunned by the larger community. I kinda liked the guy though.

    I've been thinking about urban19 lately. I think we did him a disservice by not steering him out of planning and into a business administration program with a retail development emphasis. He would have been able to speak with his own kind there.
