Would you sit in 100+ degrees to watch a baseball game ? I am not.

I would. But I like the heat. I wouldn't take my daughters though.

What do you know about that temp? You're used to watching games in Candlestick & ATT where you have to wear a jacket in July.

    Fave Non-Tiger

Yes, this Bear is a Detroit Tiger fan. But if I was picking a favorite non-Tiger my choice would be Kansas City's Billy Butler. Kansas City doesn't get much national airtime (likely due to continual lower finishes in their division) and Mr. Butler is victimized by that lack of attention. This .297 lifetime hitter, with some power, gives my Tigers fits. He is a good player that should be recognized more than he is.

    BTW.....Go Tigers!

    Delmon Young

4 days ago Detroit Tiger outfielder Delmon Young was named "Least Valuable Player - 1st Half of Season" by ESPN. In each day since (4 games) Delmon has hit a home run. Just hit another a few minutes ago. So there!

    Bear
If he wasn't such a jerk and a bigot, people probably wouldn't be so down on Delmon. He cannot really play defense but he has proven himself a serviceable DH since coming to the Tigers.

I am never a fan of the All Star game and the All Star break and it couldn't have come at a worse time this year - right as the Tigers get hot. Hopefully we can keep this up when the regular season resumes.

Same thing - the Braves are turning around getting hot to some degree, sweeping the Phillies just in time for the AllStar break.

Ball players may not be the smartest guys in the country, but they aren't stupid. I'd have run off the field too.

I'm not a fan of the ASG and especially not the home run derby. But, I do think a 162 game regular season has to have a breaking point. Now's as good a time as any, I suppose.

Our office is hosting a home run derby and ice cream social later this week as a morale booster. I am awful at baseball (I routinely struck out when I was in t-ball years ago) but am willing to give it a try. However, at a staff meeting this morning, the boss said that not only are we allowed to bring in ringers from outside the department, it is actually encouraged! I know where Miguel Cabrera lives. I wonder if I went and camped out in front of his house if I could convince him to come partake in a local government home run derby in my place...

    Hey did you notice...

...every team in the AL East is .500 or above. No other division can say that. Wow.

Never been a fan of the ASG, but I 'm reluctantly watching it tongiht. I like how it is in KC this year, sometimes people forget there's a franchise in that town.

    The NL rocks!

..and Chipper's last ASG - he gets a hit, well a grounder with eyes bleeding through the right side of the infield...

Well Justin did not have a good start/inning. Sorry Tiger fans.

I like to think he was just trying to get pulled halfway through the first so he can get even more rest during the All Star break.
