Yes, this Bear is a Detroit Tiger fan. But if I was picking a favorite non-Tiger my choice would be Kansas City's Billy Butler. Kansas City doesn't get much national airtime (likely due to continual lower finishes in their division) and Mr. Butler is victimized by that lack of attention. This .297 lifetime hitter, with some power, gives my Tigers fits. He is a good player that should be recognized more than he is.
BTW.....Go Tigers!

I am never a fan of the All Star game and the All Star break and it couldn't have come at a worse time this year - right as the Tigers get hot. Hopefully we can keep this up when the regular season resumes.

Ball players may not be the smartest guys in the country, but they aren't stupid. I'd have run off the field too.
I'm not a fan of the ASG and especially not the home run derby. But, I do think a 162 game regular season has to have a breaking point. Now's as good a time as any, I suppose.

Our office is hosting a home run derby and ice cream social later this week as a morale booster. I am awful at baseball (I routinely struck out when I was in t-ball years ago) but am willing to give it a try. However, at a staff meeting this morning, the boss said that not only are we allowed to bring in ringers from outside the department, it is actually encouraged! I know where Miguel Cabrera lives. I wonder if I went and camped out in front of his house if I could convince him to come partake in a local government home run derby in my place...
