I concur. Combat vets or not, a just war or not, it's a brotherhood and sisterhood of folks who have actually served our country. I just wish more people had been saying "Welcome home" in 1970.

As painful as it was, I think the country learned something from that experience and the large majority of citizens now welcome vets home with open arms regardless whether they believe/support the conflict or not.

Happy Veterans Day to all of our veterans out there. You cannot be thanked enough for your selfless service to our country and for preserving our freedoms.

I might have posted this before, but being Veteran's Day, I am reminded of it. Some months back I was flying and waiting to board at the gate. A few groups had gone ahead and this woman traveling alone in uniform sat waiting patiently until the boarding attendant finally said to her "you know, if you're flying in uniform, you can board at any time" She shyly got up to board and the whole gate erupted in applause. I think she was embarrassed for the attention, but its got to feel good to get that kind of support. I teared up then and I feel the same way just writing about it. It was a powerful moment of humanity.

So, thanks Veterans - we really appreciate all you do and have done! (and will do)

And a special thanks to my buddy that just returned from another year in Iraq! He's now stationed in London and reunited with his family. So happy for him.
