COLORADO IS GETTING A TRADER JOE'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

Have fun NJ has a few but the two nearest me take a minimum of 30 minutes driving to get to. Perhaps when we move in June I will be closer to one of them.

    The Ron Swanson

Yesterday my son asked me to take him to Safeway because there was a vending machine that dispenses stick-on moustaches. Last night he wore a Hercules Poiret. Today he is sporting a '70's porn star stache. But the creme de creme - the most exalted - is yet to be worn - the Ron Swanson.

Doesn't Maister have a Ron Swanson styled mustache ?

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

I work with a bunch of civil engineers and other technical folk. Mostly men. I am a man, too. But of the characteristics that typify the men at my firm, I see that I am in the minority. That whole "self-assured" thing? Or that whole "take charge" thing? It's like everyone else is drinking some kind of in-house elixir, and it ain't being shared with me. Oh, I don't mind. No, not at all. I know I am confident. But I don't have an unending need to tell everyone about it. And I do take charge. But in my own quiet personal way.

I don't know. When I look around these days and see how my fellow testosterone-gendered counterparts behave, I'm doing a lot more head-scratching. I'm at a point in my life, I think, that all these middle-aged men seem to act the same, think the same, and talk the same. Why do men collectively get together and have to show each other how big or how smart they are? Or how much money they are making? Or compare the coolness of their iPhone apps? Or declaring that the BCS system must have a playoff? So much dick-swinging and boner-envy going on. It's not all that interesting to me.

Is it an AICP violation to attend a fundraiser for a politician who you'd probably never support as an individual, but who you have to show support for to make your client happy?

I do believe he does and I think he was sporting one pre-Parks and Recreation. I guess I could call it The Maister.

Makes you wonder, and I hadn't thought of it: had the creators of the acclaimed sit-com been in the audience of one of Maister's radio play performances and got inspired?

First budget meeting with the Town Council as a director in the books. My portion of the meeting took all of 10 minutes, only 4 questions.

    Bald eagle shot

Look at the photos of this bird. Who could do this?

As this happened in the south, the term "trailer trash" comes to mind...

    I can't look.

Even if they find the culprit, he will most likely get a slap on the wrist. Often it's young adults who should know better. That's what happened in an incident in which endangered Whooping Cranes were shot and killed . And another crane was found shot in Indiana about two weeks ago.

Well, an interview is certainly good news! Hope you can get the scheduling worked out.

I was just dismissed from a very part time code enforcement gig for a small town next door. It was decent for the first year or two, but when I was asked to take care of a loose and vicious dog issue, I knew it was time to cut the strings.

    Three in a row...

My BZA term ended yesterday (I was unaware of this pending conclusion). Was handed a laserjet plaque with a glaring typo. (Yes, I pointed it out, and they are fixing it.)

This means I can now weigh in heavily on local land use issues covered in the paper and on Urban Planet. But dammit, I will miss not getting into the power jacket section of my closet, and thinking about side yard setbacks.

Agreed. Cremation followed by sprinkling the ashes over the city.
