People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
Power went out at work yesterday afternoon and didn't come back on in time for my Planning Commission meeting. Had to cancel the meeting due to power outage. First time I've had that happen in my career.

I'm scheduled to give on Christmas Eve. My gym hosts a blood drive each year on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and I always donate on one of them.

There is a line that shouldn't be crossed in even the most affable of people. An imaginary line I am tired of being pushed to at home and at work. I can hear the line-pusher walking down the hall now, babbling incoherently in his expensive shoes and not remembering where he parked his expensive car. Soon he'll be here, asking me questions which have been answered many times. Later, over an lunch he will expense, he will regurgitate my information to key people and seem like a big-wig while "he" picks up the check. During this time, I will be eating my cup of noodles while still fielding phone calls from idiots who should not be allowed to own property or businesses or probably to procreate or chew gum.
After this day, I will drive home to my angry wife.
However: I will be paid during all of this. I will read hilarious stuff from all of you. I will have a cup of noodles, and I will drive home to a wife and to my kids. So.....
I'll get up and do it every day and be happy that these are my problems, and that they're very first world. OK it was long and bitter and self-serving, but I feel better so Thanks.
