Target has a coupon on their website for a free $10 giftcard if you spend $50 in store.

Bonus! I think I will download a few of them. The wife will have a cart of $50, I will have cart of $50, we will go to lunch and then come back and do the same!

    Yes... I am that frugal.

Have you ever placed a collect call? (You young'uns even know what a collect call is?)

because I had no money or a billable phone in my name.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

I really thought yesterday was Friday. After 3 days in DC for a HUD grantee convening I'm back in the office.

And, it is possible that there is some man in the neighboring community prancing around in my undergarments. He took my suitcase home from the airport last night and I ended up with his.

Probably back in high school before I had a cell phone and didn't have any quarters on me.

And perhaps trying to explain to his wife, what he was doing on his trip?

    On a different note:

Looking at my book cases last night, I realized that I needed more classics. The wife and I are thinking about getting basic classics for the oldest and starting to read a chapter or two with him every night before bed. As it is, we read at least 4 to 5 short kids books with him every day, and it might be nice to toss in something a bit more on-going to he will look forward to seeing what happens next.

Oddly enough, "Collect Calls" are still the only ones you can make from jail. They take your cell phone. Bastards.

I do! I remember Carrot Top doing advertisements for a collect call company right as cell phones were taking over the market. It's amazing that cell phones killed the collect call and beeper industries.
    And that concludes staff’s presentation...

Realized this a.m. that I don't have my drivers license. Last time I remember taking it out was at the bank last week to cash a check. Crap.

Dealing with credit card fraud not fun but the resolution was fast.

Why do people who know me keep sending me those obviously right-wing email chain-letters that circulate endlessly on the web? I'm talking about relatives and friends here, NOT just acquaintances. It's NOT like I keep my political views secret or anything (who drove around redneck heaven with Obama magnets on her Subis during the last two election cycles?), and I never respond or pass on any of this stuff. It's no secret that I've long been active in unions and am a strong advocate for civil rights in general, and woman's rights in particular, as well as being a radical on immigration (let anybody who's NOT a criminal and wants to work come on in) and have no use for mixing religion and politics.

Just because I support law enforcement and consider myself to be fairly patriotic does NOT mean that I want the Ten Commandments plastered all over public buildings or someone's religious dogma being passed off as science in public schools or approve of using racial, religious or sexist slurs to prove you're NOT "politically incorrect". Just because you're an ignorant jackass, don't assume everyone else you know or are related to is also an ignorant jackass.

Better than dealing with stolen cash, then your out of luck. Last year I noticed a $200 charge for a Wal-Mart in South Carolina on my debit card. I've never been to South Carolina. The charge was taken off and I was given a new card.

Listening to Christmas music. It is my first real act of celebrating the holiday. I'm conflicted.

There just aren't any good poems about cornish hens, are there? Why aren't there more - I mean whats not to like about those cute tasty little chickens? Where's ursus when you need him - I think he may do requests...
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate.
