Davy Jones dead at 66. He was always my favorite Monkee.
I was a little late for the first airings, but I can remember watching the reruns at a friends sleepover party when I was in 5th or 6th grade and screaming, "DAAAAVVVVYYYYYY!!!!" at the top of my lungs. I don't think I was ever invited back for another sleepover.![]()
He was my cute Monkey! He lived here my county...a pretty good resident. Not exactly sure how to post a link, but this is an attempt at our local coverage:

Conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart has died, according to his website Big Government.
The site, which he founded, reported that Breitbart, 43, died "unexpectedly from natural causes" in Los Angeles shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
"We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior," the article on the site said.
How can a 43-year-old die "unexpectedly" and that death be attributed to "natural causes" within hours of his passing?
The plausible explanation would seem to be something like an aneuryism or some undiagnosed heart ailment, but those couldn't be determined without an autopsy. If he had some serious health issue that affected his health, then his death really wouldn't be "unexpected".

Hey, the fan base is probably mostly middle-aged women (I am one of those), so it's kinda sad for us.
The antithesis of "natural causes" would be crashes, accidents, drowning, that sort of thing. If he just woke up dead, there's no stairs or ropes or bottles or guns or knives or bedsheets or...
"Unexpected" means he wasn't in hospice.
Locally we had a 29yo cop collapse and die while out jogging (he was off-duty). And I've seen several stories of relatively young people (20- or 30-somethings) fall down the stairs and end up terminal. Really makes one hang onto those bannisters!
In other news, the mandolin player in my very first folkie band is in hospice. He had a stroke, then a fall, and the family decided to stop with the extreme measures. All sorts of nice comments on his Caring Bridge site. Someone (caregiver?) asked, "I notice a reference to music; is he a musician? I didn't know. What type of music?"
Looking up some links for her, I found out that the group played Prairie Home Companion a couple of times. I added some additional links to audio files and news articles from their 2010 concert. And one of his relatives posted this:
Veloise, thank you so much for the links you posted. I've been trying to listen to some of Dave's cds but haven't been able to get up the courage for fear of collapsing in a heap. It's been a rough year and esp. rough past month.
But clicking on the links (esp. the last one) has brought me so much joy through the tears. Seeing him in his element, singing with that velvet voice and strumming with those magic fingers...I can only pray he will sing and strum me through those pearly gates come my time as I've asked him to do.
Happy to help.

Peter Douglas, who over the past 40 years did more than any person to preserve California's coastline and ensure that its beaches were open to the public, has died.
Douglas, 69, who had struggled with cancer for the past seven years, died late Sunday night at the home of his sister, Christina Douglas, in La Quinta, near Palm Springs.
Those of you that have worked in coastal California know of his successes and failures (Nolan). A hugh loss.
