I had never heard of that. What a crazy story indeed.

If somebody had randomly told me that that had happened, I don't know that I would actually believe them.

[QUOTE=Dan;633664]No more trololololololololololo. Eduard Khil dead at 77.

I just read online about how the 'trololo' song came to pass - Soviet censors didn't like the words of the song he was going to sing because they painted a favorably sentimental picture of the US, so instead of changing the words he just trololo'ed nonsense syllables to the melody.

I have to admit it was a little more fun not knowing what the deal with the trololo song was

    Mid-Year Update

Time for a mid-year update on the Year 2012 Cyburbian Death Pool....

    First Place
kjel Etta James, Robin Gibb, Ray Bradbury

    Second Place
    kalimotxo Maurice Sendak, Etta James
    beach_bum Joe Paterno, Etta James
Suburb Repairman Joe Paterno, Dick Clark
    Veloise Etta James, Dick Clark
    Hink Etta James, Joe Paterno

    Third Place
    ofos Joe Paterno
    Zoning Goddess Mike Wallace
    Richmond Jake Mike Wallace
    Duke of Dystopia Joe Paterno
    Bear Up North Etta James
    _____

kjel has dominated this contest. She won in 2010 and 2011 and leads us "dead end kids" at the nearly-half-way mark in 2012.

Note: If this Bear moderates the 2013 Poll I will clarify a couple things. The nomination thread will close at Midnight, Pacific Time (rather than Eastern Time). This year I allowed a couple after-midnighters. Also, submitters will only be allowed one ALTERNATE PICK. Of course, this puts more pressure on submitters to enter the fray at a date and time closer to the last hours of the year. If somebody else moderates, do what ya want.

Just to keep you in the mood, here's a snip from Bob Fosse's superb All That Jazz. Kind of a preview of our/my death.
