    Stanfest 2012: Columbus, Ohio

So Columbus is going to be the location. There are lots of great spots (mainly in the Arena District), and I already know which brewery we will be meeting at http://www.gordonbiersch.com/ .

Now we need to figure out the timing. If I am going to go, I want lots of others to make the trip. By my calculations, the drive would be pretty simple from many cities. Here are some examples:

    Fort Worth: 17 hrs.
    Tampa: 17 hrs.
    Boston: 13 hrs.
    NYC: 9 hrs.
    Atlanta: 9 hrs.
    Philly: 8 hrs.
    Raleigh: 8 hrs.
    Washington D.C.: 7 hrs.
    St. Louis: 7 hrs.
    Nashville: 6 hrs.
    Chicago: 6 hrs.
    Louisville: 4 hrs.
    Pittsburgh: 3 hrs.
    Indy: 3hrs.
    Detroit: 3 hrs.
    Toledo: 2 hrs.

So who is in? What dates would work... July or August?

Depending on the date, I may be available. Mid to late July would probably work best for me. I'd also be open to sometime in late June.

Of course, I say every year I'm going to attend and I haven't been able to yet...

I'm totally down for a mid-summer Stanfest in Columbus- count me in! Oh, oh can we play cornhole? I want my Ohio experience to be fully authentic

p.s. Columbus appears to pretty accessible by air as well- http://flycolumbus.com/airline-info/...-destinations/

I'm not sure my safety would be guaranteed if I wore orange & blue apparel.

I was actually thinking about flying in, but I'd be ok with driving if you guys are up for the trip. Happy to report that my Explorer passed inspection this a.m.

If not, I may be game for picking up you and Dan. Actually, I could combine Stanfest with some sort of birding adventure with a friend who lives in the Cleveland area. Hmm.

Given my pathetic workload, I may have plenty of time free this summer...

Maize & Blue Invade High Street!

Depending on the date, this Bear should be able to muster up the strength to drive a couple hours south to see another version of the Stangang. Of course, Gators and Wolverines and Bulldogs and ______ will be on tap, just to keep the locals hicks.....er, Hinks in tow. Last weekend in June, most anytime in July, mid-August.....all fit into this non-planner-invading-planner-geek-fest's calendar.

I would think wearing gator attire will do better than corn and blue.

I thought you were talking about the OKI Conference in September ?

I didn't imagine most people would care about the OKI conference. I figured we just put together something that as many people can get to. July / August seems to always be the best time for people to get a day or two away.

I plan on going to the OKI conference as well

Ohio / Kentucky / Indiana Planning Conference. We have a joint conference with the State Chapters every other year. This year it is in Columbus in September.

I wouldn't be able to do one that wasn't coordinated with this year's OKI conference.

Are planners from outside the Great State of Ohio going to come to Columbus in September? I say we pick a date that works for the most number of people, and set it. I am sure I can find you a babysitter for a night

It isn't a far drive for me, so I can do it whenever.

I'm tempted. Really tempted. But if you hold it during the OKI conference, I won't be able to attend. That's too close to the APA Florida conference that I will be attending.

All ya'll have a great time!!

I'm out. Too far (my car probably wouldn't survive anymore road trips). And not enough money.

Just found out that there is a party in the works for my Grammie's 90th birthday, location Cincinnati. Party would be in July or August. Any chance of a change of venue from Columbus to Dayton or Cincinnati?

FYI Columbus is only a two hour drive from Cincy.

Well both those locations are closer to me... so I won't argue with that... and can plan a get together in any place. I will say Dayton doesn't have that much to look at (they do have bars), and Cincy is alright, but Columbus is a much more interesting city. Also, I don't know if our Eastern folks want to drive an extra 1-2 hours.... I guess we don't even know a date yet...

The middle two weekends of July are out for me... August is ideal. What about everyone else?

Let's take an interest poll....add your name if you would be interested in that date.

    August 25 - Hink
    September 20 - 21 - OKI Conference Weekend

It looks like I'll be in Cincy the weekend of July 14th. So unless we can work Stanfest for that weekend (when I think Hink is busy ) then it looks like I'm out.
