What IU wasn't ranked in football? That's right, we don't have a football team, just a JV squad.

Michigan fan here, not agreeing with the high ranking of our Wolverines. Yes, Top 20.....maybe 18. Denard Robinson announced today that he will play his senior season, not jumping to the NFL. We all know what that means.....scouts and analysts told him to "learn to throw" or expect to be drafted later roundish and not as a QB. I expect Devin Gardner to see much more action as QB next season. He is more of a traditional in-the-pocket QB. Some big studs are now gone (offense and defense). However, the latest Rivals ranking I saw for Michigan's incoming class was something like 5th in the nation. That portends good times the next few years.

    Some thoughts:

Can't remember the last time I didn't see UF on a preseason top 25 list.

Only reason USC is ranked that high is because of Matt Barkley. That, and they have a total cake schedule.

The Big 10 has a bunch of teams on there, but I don't see any of them realistically contending for a national title.

Notre Dame is trash and doesn't belong (as usual).

Just hoping the ACC doesn't suck this year!

Clemson really blew it for everyone last season. Their team is still young and probably grew up a lot after that WVA loss. I expect them to have a bit more consistency next season as a result.

It sounds like it. I hope they have two semi-final games that determine who plays for the national championship and keep the majority of the bowls...like the top 25 of them.

IMO the hardest part of this will be getting all of the AD's to agree on how the top 4 teams are chosen.

Without BMFP, you can drop Arkansas down the list.

I agree. I think they need to push for either conference champions (which they won't do) or have 2 conference champions and 2 open spot that must meet minimum criteria, like wins, ranking, etc.

I hope that they push for more human votes and less computer junk. Although I like having an "unbiased" system, it is really hard to see how you could vote for some teams to be in the top BCS polls.

    It should get interesting...

I was really hoping for 4 super conferences when everyone was adding teams. Then the 4 conference champions get a playoff birth.

IMO it will be the major polls (Coaches, Harris and the return of the AP) and a few computer polls. Every year it will be changed to make up for the flaws in the previous system. My prediction is one year there will be 6 teams with an 11-1 record and there will be calls to revamp the system.

I think the question is what happens when you have:
    • 11-1 Alabama (conference champ)
    • 11-1 LSU
    • 11-1 Boise State (conference champ)
    • 11-1 Michigan
    • 10-2 USC (conference champ)
    • 10-2 Texas (conference champ)
    • 12-0 Ohio State (conference champ)

Which four do you pick? If it was conference champions, then you could at least eliminate LSU and Michigan. Although their record is better, they weren't the best team in their conference...

With a 12-0 record Ohio State would be in, but picking between Alabama, Boise, USC, and Texas would be tough, but it most likely would be Alabama, USC, and Texas... still screwing Boise.

Hey Hinkster.....noticed that only one team on your list is undefeated. Really? A Big Ten (12) team? Come on, you can do better than that.

    Seriously? What's wrong Sloopy?

from espn:Ohio State has canceled a home-and-home series with Georgia because of the upcoming Big Ten/Pac 12 scheduling partnership.

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity told reporters Thursday at the SEC spring meetings that Ohio State backed out of an agreement to play the Bulldogs in 2020 and 2021. The Big Ten/Pac 12 partnership, which ultimately will have 12 intra-conference matchups, is set to begin in 2017, although Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told ESPN.com the school likely won't begin participating until 2018.

    Too High

I hate to say it, but Oklahoma is way too high on that those lists too. Between the losses to the draft, Stoops throwing out half the receivers during the off season, and more difficult new confrence opponets (TCU and West Virgina) it is going to be rough year.

It is all posturing with the expectation that something is going to be changing in college football. My guess is that Gene Smith knows something about the plus one type playoff that we will be seeing very shortly.

If the Big Ten / Pac 12 is the conference matchup, it makes a lot more sense to play teams in the Pac 12. If that isn't the case, I have no idea why we wouldn't want to play Georgia. We would win

The SEC will likely be at 16 teams by that point, with a 9-game conference schedule - I'm guessing UGA would have eventually cancelled that series (which still would have sucked).
