    Next tuesday

I am retiring as of the end of January.
I'm glad and relieved but at the same time I'm approaching the unknown sort of like when I went into the Army or quit GM to go to school full time. I'll try to stay in touch from home, but I WILL NOT take any electronic devices (except a flash light and elecrto troll) when I go fishing. (BTW, no fish emoticons)

Congratulations! Get out while there is getting out. Hope you have plans to enjoy your extra time.

Are they replacing you with 3 interns, 2 part timers, and 1 full time guy? Or are they just sharing the work with others in the office?

Congrats on the upcoming retirement! I cannot think of a better way to start a new year.

So fill us in on how you plan to spend your days. We're talking broad strokes here; for instance, perhaps you'd like to spend your mornings at the local breakfast diner with two or three other retired guys, wearing your VFW/US Army/CVS-11 caps, and get 8 or 9 'warmups' to your coffee.

    Do tell!
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Congrats on your new status! Only 11 more years for me, then I plan on having one of those Greenfield Village jobs where all I do is talk to folks and wear funny costumes.

You're the second person in the last week who has told me they are retiring. How come no one invited me to this meeting?! Seriously, though, that is pretty dang exciting! Do let us know how your time shakes out. The rest of us need to know what to look forward to or what to avoid...
