    U.S. - Dakota War - Who Knew?

Always liked history. Bugged when something slips past me. This did. The article is absolutely right.....most of us never heard of this. Until now.

Wow. Such a sad chapter in MN history that seems to have been swept under the rug. I am not surprised though given all the atrocities perpetrated against the Native American people. In 1954, the Klamath Tribes (our family's tribe) was terminated by an act of Congress. Why? Because they were so successful in the enterprises they pursued: timber, freighting, cattle ranching and they had a very large reservation of 1.5 million acres full of old growth timber and natural resources that could be exploited. Upon termination of the tribe the land was condemned by the U.S. government and taken away from the tribe. http://www.klamathtribes.org/backgro...rmination.html
