Small Town of the Day - Accident, Maryland

    Accident, Maryland
Okay the town has a funny name but once we get beyond that, what else can be said about the place? Are there any distinguishing characteristics that set this town apart from any other small town? Any indications on Google Streetview providing insight into the state of their local economy?

Perhaps we should pick a community of comparable size in a different region of the country to compare it to - any suggestions?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I wonder if they identify that part of Maryland as the "panhandle region"? Come to think of it, is there a more funkily-carved state that MD?

The panhandle is what they call the area of West Virginia to the south of Accident, WV. The counties of Jefferson, Berk, Morgan, etc.
