It is awesome until the die-off, when the smell of rotting fish would choke a maggot. The public library in Ketchikan was along the creek and when the fish died off, you did not want to be inside the library. You felt so sorry for the librarians.

I'm surprised that bears don't hit the die off spots harder. Seems like some easier meals could be had.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. Until the locally owned water ice shops open for business!
You can swim at the Jersey Shore without freezing your ass off.

When the pools open for business. Typically happens around Memorial Day. They probably could've opened the pools for a week or two around here in mid-March because it was so warm and summerlike, but it would be impractical, because we knew the warm weather wasn't going to last. But around Memorial Day, you know the warm weather is generally going to last, and thus it is ready for the pools to open for the season.

People start having bonfires every night.

Grilling at least once or twice a week becomes a regular occurrence.

    Graduation party season.

Going to outdoor concerts at amphitheaters and local festivals.

I once heard a bear interviewed on the nature channel address this issue. He said "Sure, hitting the die-offs is easy, and we do that plenty...but if you want the camera, you want to make an impression, maybe make some time with that foxy lady bear y'know? You gotta catch the damn things in your mouth when they jump. Let's face it, that's what the people want. So I do it - and it's not like it makes me a sell-out I don't think." I'm not sure why the bear talked like he was from Jersey, but he did.

    True story.

True enough. She-bears are impressed by a dude bear that can snag a coho in his mouth at the foot of a waterfall. But every dude bear know that sooner or later if he wants to get lucky he is going to end up down at the dump. The she-bears there just have lower expectations.

But they're all 10's at closing time.

Off to the beach this morning; grilling hotdogs and sausages tomorrow for lunch. Summer has begun on the panhandle.

In fact, it began a couple of weekends ago when I skinny-dipped in the pool for the first time this year.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

June 20th, from a technically astrological point of view.

Also- Unfortunately this summer we will be without the most famous Summer. RIP Donna!
