This live version of the Guess Who doing "American Woman" is a classic. I wore my Live At The Paramount LP out playing it so often. Thank you, Canada, for giving us this band.

Here's a super horn rock tune from a great Canadian band, Lighthouse. Great riffs with a bone. This one's for TOFB.

'Voodoo Child' - Stevie Ray Vaughan
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor
I'm going to play the game too...
This popped up on my iPod on my stereo when I was sitting on the porch yesterday afternoon watching the world go by and has been in my head all evening and this morning:
The Grateful Dead with The Beach Boys covering Merle Haggard in April of 1971.
"Where free unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost." - 1980 Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan
'Embryonic Journey' - Jefferson Airplane

Flash back to those who had an early influence on rock and roll. Cool tune.

Couldn't find the song I wanted to post so this'll have to do:
Almost went with that one before I decided on the Little Stevie Wonder tune. Booker T & the MG's were the Memphis equivalent of Motown's Funk Brothers. Booker T. Washington (Hammond B3), Donald "Duck" Dunn (Bass), Steve Cropper (Guitar), Al Jackson, Jr. (drums). All fine studio musicians.
“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”

One of my favorite CSN tunes.

The Clash Rock the CasbahI
June 18, 1967, Monterey, CA. The "Monterey Pop Music Festival" kicks in, for a three-day festival showcasing rock and rollers of the day. Later that year, Eric Burdon and the Animals recorded this tune. Good jam. Goode jam.

Back in the early 1970s one of the then-popular rags (Time or Newsweek or Life) said this: "Chicago is a rock and roll band that plays some jazz. Blood, Sweat, and Tears is a jazz band that plays some rock and roll." This JAM is from BST's first album, considered by many to be in the "excellent classic" catregory. For years, playing this album on a Sunday morning has been to this Bear akin to "sausage and eggs".....a must have on Sunday as the roosters begin their crowing dance. To give your Sunday a smooth start, check it out.
