    Hopeful career-changer

    Hi everyone,

I currently work as a researcher in the field of the learning sciences and education. I have been considering a career change into urban planning and design. Since I do not come from a design background I assume my path will probably head more towards the planning side, but I'm open to options.

Right now I live in the U.S. but am considering masters programs in Australia also, my home country. I'd be really interested in learning from others who are either based or have studied in Australia or who have moved across to the states after getting their masters in Oz; how well recognized are Australian planning degrees, and how applicable the learning context would be to American cities.

Looking forward to learning lots from everyone as I contemplate next steps!

    Hello, from Dallas, TX!
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011
