Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

Why do we need a National Donut Day?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Because we have National Vanilla Pudding day. Apparently you haven't read the 21th amendment to the Constitution, which states: "Every dessert and/or sugary breakfest pastry shall have it's own National holiday."

I had no idea that today was National Donut Day... I knew I should have bought one when I stopped in the grocery store this morning.

On an unrelated note, today also marks the 216th anniversary of Tennessee becoming a state and the 220th anniversary for Kentucky.

We should raise a toast of Bourbon to mark the occasion

That sounds better than my initial idea of KFC for lunch.

    mmmm.... donuts.

Having been on a diet for over 6 weeks I can say I have had a donut only once.
We had a friend in town last weekend and we took a Saturday morning trip to Britt's Donuts in Carolina Beach, NC - http://www.foodandwine.com/slideshow...t-doughnuts/16
Simple vat fried and hand flipped donuts that can't get made fast enough. Two flavors, glazed and non-glazed. 1 dz. costs $7. Eat em while their hot. Makes Krispy Kremes cry.

Did I mention that it's a hole in the wall? About 15 seats at a counter, 1970's laminate counters. Opens at 8:30 daily and closes when sold out. Line down the boardwalk.

Definite bucket list item to visit some top donut shops or shoppes in America.

I'll take a powdered doughnut please - and that bourbon chaser sounds goo too!

I didn't have the patience to wait in line when I was there last year. They smelled good.

Yes. As you'd expect, it's in Portland: http://voodoodoughnut.com/menu.php They even have a bacon-maple beer to go with it.

I bought bagels today, same shape...

Vast majority of donuts in this area come from Dunkin which don't excite me. A few good places though.

There was maybe 30 people in line ahead of me when I went, some groups of people though. It moved fairly quickly, maybe 5 minutes? Next time.
