I am appalled that you would let the syrup touch the bacon!!!!

    I am a bacon purist.

Is there anything that does not taste better with bacon?

My dog knows I love him when I break of a pice of bacon and give it to him.
Anyone want to adopt a dog?

Time to bring home the bacon. (does anyone remember that tv commercial that ran back in the late 70's/early 80's with that song - "I can bring home the bacon...fry it up in a pan...and never never let you forget you're a man...cuz I'm a woman)
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    Candied Bacon

These sweet and savory candied bacon strips can be used as a party snack, as a breakfast meat, or to build the world's best BLT! Just make sure you make enough since these are sure to go fast.

Makes 8 servings of Candied Bacon
    Prep Time: 10 minutes

    Cook Time: 40 minutes

    Total Time: 50 minutes

    Ingredients:

    1 pound thickly-sliced center-cut bacon
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    2 tbsp maple syrup
    2 tbsp rice vinegar
    black pepper to taste
    Preparation:

Place a wire cookie rack over a sheet pan and layout the strips of bacon in one layer. The strips of bacon can be touching, but shouldn’t be overlapping. Place in a preheated 350 degrees F. oven for 15 minutes.

Whisk together the remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Remove the bacon, and using a pastry brush, lightly brush the sugar mixture on the bacon, turn and brush the other side. Return to the oven and cook for 5 minutes.

Remove and repeat the process every five minutes, for about 30 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and caramelized. Allow to cool on the rack until the bacon strips firm up.

    Comparing two sandwiches:

LTB Lettuce, tomato, multi-grain bread. Healthy.

BLT Bacon, lettuce, tomato. Healthy for the mind. Yum.

BLTs in late summer when NW Ohio tomatoes are ripe......best damn sandwich in the land!

Note: NW Ohio = formerly "The Great Black Swamp", now with the richest soil in America. That's the fact, Jack!

I like to take the BLT a step further and go with a BLTA, A for Avocado

    Jersey tomatoes are better

Not quiche lorraine. This one has cottage cheese and bacon. Quiche lorraine generally has gruyere, swiss-type cheese, usually ham, maybe bacon.

How come all y'all aren't making fun of him for eating quiche?

Just not enough time in the day to comment on all the strange dietary and social peculiarities of native Californians.

This probably should go in the "What's Wrong With America" thread as well...

Restaurant unveils 100 percent ground bacon burger

"California burger chain Slater's 50/50 may be bringing home the bacon, now that its menu features a burger made of 100 percent ground bacon. Not to gild the lily, but the Fourth of July-inspired The 'Merica burger comes topped with a slice of thick-cut bacon, bacon island dressing, and bacon flavored cheddar cheese. It's only nonbacon topping is an impressive sunny-side-up egg.

And if the bacon burger isn't enough for you, Slater's offers several other bacon-themed novelties, including a bacon brownie and the Bakon Mary, a twist on the Bloody Mary cocktail featuring bacon-infused vodka, a rim of bacon salt and a slice of thick-cut bacon as garnish."
