Hello,
if you are working in the field of urban planning and would like to learn more about application areas of GIS: please consider to participate in the newly developed 9-week distance (part-time) course on GIS for Urban Planning and Management.
The course starts on 22 Oct 2012 and was developed for planning professionals with an interest to learn about the large range of GIS applications in urban planning and management.
The course will guide participants through a large range of possible application areas of geo-information in urban planning and management, using case studies from real municipal spatial database.
What is the course content?
After a refresher course/crash course in GIS for Urban Planning and Management you will be introduced during the first part of the course into present theories about urban planning and management; urban transport and participatory GIS.
In the second period you will learn about the topics urban services; land use and urban growth; and planning and decision support systems and how geo-information can be used in each of these fields.
In the last period you will be working on the topics urban poverty; urban infrastructure; and urban data collection.
