Is there a good reason to use a Smart Pen for I-Pad?

I just started using Noteshelf and it seems to me that a regular stylus would pretty much take care of normal writing. What does a smart pen add? The cost is pretty high as well.

Trying to get away from paper notes.

I use notes plus with this stylus from Monoprice

Most of the time, I type my notes, but the pen does come in handy for diagrams, and other minor notes. Notes Plus thus fur has been a great program.
