Frankly, I wasn't too jazzed about two years in Ann Arbor anyway.
I got a $10k package for the first year. None for the second so it seems that you received a pretty good package in comparison. However, I have to agree that I am disappointed as well. I am in the same boat hoping Penn stuns me. Especially with this suspenseful wait until the 14th!

UMich had info about their GSI positions but I am reluctant to hope to get that position in my second term. I wish they had included more info about financial support if you become a student research assistant.

Hi WooTang, Go Bears indeed! NYU has 2 open houses one on March 11 and one in late April 23. I won't be able to make either and I'm not sure if it's worth flying across the country for since it's only an hour and a half. I attended the info session that was webcasted to a room in LA so I think that was sufficient info for me. The only downside being not seeing the actual place the magic happens.

    University of Maryland

I am seeing that some people have received their acceptance notifications from Maryland via e-mail. When I checked online, it said that my letter is in the mail and is not viewable online for 48-72 hours.

Does this mean I will likely get a rejection letter?

    $$$

Seeing the budget listed in the GSD acceptance packet (only a $10,000 grant for a $63K/year school) has finally hit me about the reality of grad school cost, esp for an international. T_T

Waiting for one last school (MIT), and hoping that, IF I'm lucky enough to be accepted, they'd be able to offer more $$

    UIC and Rutgers

I received notification from UIC about a week ago via email of acceptance, but no word of funding. With others mostly on gradcafe stating that they received scholarships, tuition waivers, and RA/TA positions, don't know if I will be getting any funding from them. Its pretty expensive for out-of state for the first year. I think queenducky mentioned they said to contact the individual institutes for funding, but don't they get their research assistants from those chosen and told they would be research assistants in their acceptances? They have acouple of institutes and looking on their sites a good amount of RA's so maybe they'll be some positions open.

Tonight after seeing some posts on here and gradcafe about Rutgers sending emails, I checked my status and I got into Bloustein. I went to Rutgers and Bloustein for undergrad and I don't know if going back there is the best thing. It's a great school and they have great professors but I may need a change. That being said I would get in-state tuition and if I get some funding I may just go back there. That or if I somehow get a job in the field in the next say three months.

I also applied to Hunter and I'm pretty sure they don't give anyone funding, but its still probably the cheapest program out there.

I was told that the RA/TA offers with admission were just within urban planning dept. And that you can contact the institutes to try and get other funding.

NYU Dream and another UIC Point

I had a dream last night that I was #3 on the NYU wait list. I then woke up to an email from NYU, although it was just an advertisement.

Re: UIC. They said that 30% of students are funded, but only 12% are funded through the department itself. PM me if you want more details.

What time do we think that NYU will be sent out?

Anyone want to place "bets" on what time we think that NYU letters will go out?

    I'm betting noon Eastern time.

    No Rutgers email notification?

So with the slew of Rutgers notifications via email, I was upset that I hadn't received one (and was constantly refreshing my email and checking the spam folder), until I logged onto the Rutgers website and saw that I had been admitted. I'm so happy since it it one of my top choices, but I'm a little confused on why I haven't received an email. Anyone else in this situation?

I just checked online and saw that I was accepted. I did not get an e-mail notification either. Hoping for a letter soon on funding.

I just got my letter of acceptance today with no mention of scholarships. Yeah, no scholarships pretty much means I will not be attending. When I called the office, the student who picked up said "...we are a public university so there is not much aid to give out." Right...

I'm in the same boat. Checked this morning and was accepted!

which means I now have all of my admissions decisions

    Accepted:
    Harvard
    Rutgers
    UNC
    UT Austin
    University of Washington

    Waitlisted:
    Berkeley

Interested in transportation and deciding between Harvard, UNC, and UT. Received my financial package from Harvard yesteday, which essentially makes the price comparable to the the public universities' sticker prices. Hopefully I'll get funding from UNC and/or UT.

Me too. No aid = no go for me. What about you? Would you go sans aid?

I have talked to a lot of students and heard both good (great international studios, interesting courses) and bad (poor facilities, poor student-student relationships) about the program.

    Fingers crossed for MIT.

    NYU comes out today too!

Just got my letter in an e-mail. Seems like they update the online accounts before they send out the letters. No word on fin aid or scholarships yet. The letter indicated that will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!

I'd consider some schools without aid, but Columbia is not one of them. It would be more than double the price of Cornell, and Cornell seems to have a much more positive reputation.

I'd love to get into MIT or GSD, but as of right now I am debating between Cornell and Penn.

You guys are talking about the MSRED program at Columbia?

Unfortunately the application indicated scholarships were only available to US citizens or perm. residents. Bummer for int'l students.

    Columbia

Like others, in at Columbia with 0 aid. I don't see it as worth the (substantial) price tag.

From my research, I would say this is false. Cornell has a different area of focus, and if you were to consider your income opportunity costs of two years of school, I think you'd find Columbia is in fact more cost effective.

I am definitely going to turn down Columbia. No aid is just unmanageable, their degree is not worth 80k.

Did anyone apply to Hunter? That's the last school I am waiting on (besides financial aid from Rutgers)
I know Hunter is stingy, but do they give out some aid?
