    The food torture thread

This is wht devil's food cake with buttercream frosting looks like:

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Dandy mentioning pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    From Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

    You mean these kind?

I wouldn't be posting pictures of those if I were you. After all, some folks might be hungry. They might also be hungry for other things like chana dal. And seeing the pictures might make their mouths water.

Have you been reading the Joys of Jello?

Lots of odd combinations in there. For some reason I only like fruit in my Jello, but apparently you can put just about anything in it.

If your only choices were lutefisk and gefilte fish, would you be able to make a choice?

Christmas time will find Otterpop in his homeland - south Louisiana - where he hopes to find crawfish, soft-shell crab and seafood gumbo. It will be a week of feeling stuffed 24-7. My checkbook will become lighter as I become heavier.

I didn't see it in the picture, but I hope the crawfish boil incuded garlic. Garlic boiled in crab boil acquires a buttery texture and is so good spread on a saltine.

I could just inhale a good ham salad - cut the ham into pieces that are about the size of a pencil eraser, mix about 8:1 with similarly cubed celery and enough mayo to coat....

    Drool...

OTOH, if one would define food torture as evil things being directly done to food, I've always wondered what would happen if one would put some Peeps™ into a vacuum chamber.

Did you use those guns to kill the pig?

I am pretty sure ribs are the bane of my existence. I can never eat only one... or only a half rack.... I end up eating the entire rack and feel sick.... I mean a good sick... but sick.
