Bingo!
I learned through the Beer Exchange to wrap the bottles up good in bubble wrap, and then also put them in ziploc-type bags in case of breakage. That way, the box doesn't arrive smelling like a three-day bender, with the soggy box and broken glass to confirm it! And if the guys in brown don't ask, you don't have to tell (that it's beer!).
If the bags are big enough/bottles not too big, then you can get 2 bottles in a bag.
"We do not need any other Tutankhamun's tomb with all its treasures. We need context. We need understanding. We need knowledge of historical events to tie them together. We don't know much. Of course we know a lot, but it is context that's missing, not treasures." - Werner Herzog, in Archaeology, March/April 2011

My gift is (finally!) on it's way to west of me!! Will probably get there the day or two after Christmas, sorry for the delay, crazy week![]()
I SWEAR I will get to the post office tomorrow before it's 4:30 and I forget to head out. Obviously my package will be heading westward since there isn't too much east of me.... and slightly north.

I just sent mine off - a nice gathering of stuff - went due west from me - not guranteed for Christmas Eve so it might be the 26th
remember Christmas starts on Christmas, not ends - it ends on Epiphany!
It's here! Thanks to Salmissra, I have a box of Texas treats! Along with a glittery Christmas card, I received a bottle of Texarita mix, some Texas taffy and a Texas magnet. Cool things! Thanks again!:![]()

Good old FedEx just left a large heavy box from Ithaca! Geez, Dan, did you go overboard!
Dan sent:
A really cute card
2 Ithaca bumper stickers
2 cloth shopping bags from GreenStar Natural Foods Market (neat idea!)
A Cayuga Lake Wine Trail map & guide, plus brochures from wineries
A bottle each of his local Riesling, Chardonnay, and a red (can't wait to try but guess I will have to share with RJ, huh?)
Thank you!
( I'm also going to note that the box also contained more bubble wrap than most people see in a lifetime, and was wrapped in so much tape that I broke the first pair of scissors I used...)
RJ took pics and will post one for me.

Phwew. Nothing broke. The bags were actually meant as extra packaging material, but I thought "hey, it's crunchy and local." The card is local, too; one of my favorite artists in the area, Alice Muhlback, who does a lot of what could be called "deeply whimsical" folk artsy stuff, much with found items.
The Sheldrake Point is a Cayuga; that's my lake. Seneca Lake is known as the biggest, and some say the best wine lake (Keuka is also a contender); that's where the Glenora and Hazlitt are from.
The Sheldrake Point and Glenora got generally good reviews. The Red Cat ... well, it's not a sippin' wine. It is what it is.

I found it as I was taking some packing material from the box, and I was surprised, and felt a little embarassed for having missed it.
So, now I also have a postcard of the Texan's Map of the United States, and a handy guide on how to be a Texan.
Thanks, again, Salmissra!
Got a wonderful package from LP. I'll post some pics later.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Arrived home to find a package from TIDE. Coffee with mug and a battleship bottle opener. Enjoying the first cup of coffee in the mug now. Love it! Thanks Tide.

Assuming that it was affixed with a meter stamp from Metarie, LA, it was passed to me by a Federal agent just as I was about to check the forvms right now!
Lots of kewl SE LA stuff that I will be going through when I have some more time later this evening! Images will be forthcoming.
